About Us

What we do
We provide quality products and materials required for infrastructural, commercial, house-building & home improvement projects in a manner that earns our customers lifetime loyalty.

History
Originally founded in the 1830s in the bustling port city of Limerick, by the mid-19th century James McMahon Ltd. was a flourishing business involved in cooperage, manufacturing, and saw milling. From its earliest days, McMahons had been a major importer of timber materials to support its various activities.

In the early part of the 20th century, the company grew to become the largest timber supplier in the country. Later, McMahons widened its focus to include all building materials used by the construction industry.

In recent years, the further expansion of the company included the acquisition of Francis Spaight, a large timber importer in the Republic of Ireland, as well as Robert Keyes, a builders merchant in Northern Ireland.

Today
McMahons - Ireland's Builders Providers - has branches in 13 locations. Today, we are recognized as the largest & most successful independent builders providers operating on a national scale across the island of Ireland.

We are an ambitious company, proud of being Irish and proud of our independence.

We continue to invest in the future of our business. In early 2007, we opened our newest branch, a brand new trade and retail facility at Fermoy, Co. Cork. Later that year, we moved our thriving Portarlington branch lock, stock and barrel - literally - across the town to a brand new site. And recently, we completely refurbished our Limerick shop to give our oldest branch a fantastic facelift.

Fundamental to our success has been, and continues to be, the commitment, contribution & teamwork of our knowledgeable people.

Open to the public as well as trade, at McMahons we take pride in offering New Thinking and Great Service to all our customers - large or small.
